When it comes to boxing classes, you’ve been pretty much obliged to venture into a borderline-sketchy studio in the 13ème filled with angry-looking men.
Introducing La Belle Equipe, the bright female-friendly boxing studio that’s our most recent discovery in the 10ème.
Don’t be fooled by its chic façade of Scandi décor and Aesop aromas - it was founded by two world champions in Thai kickboxing so the workouts are grueling and the general objective is to walk out much more fit than when you arrived.
Opt for some girl-on-girl action at the Muay Thai Femme classes. You’ll turn up, ditch your shoes, be given gloves and leg pads and before long the Black Eyed Peas are blasting and you're sweating more than you would stuck in a 6th floor chambre de bonne in mid-August.
Don’t be afraid to also join the guy-girl classes; there are plenty of women who show up and the vibe is like a super friendly family - who like to punch each other.
Trust us, this plan is genius, not only because you can now claim your boxer braids are not just for Instagram, but because boxing is one of the best workouts around. You’ll box with your fists, elbows, knees and feet, simultaneously targeting your upper and lower body. From muscle endurance, agility and cardio conditioning, to plain old fat burning, Muay Thai delivers.
All in all, it makes for a pretty good start to the week. And to that summer fitness plan.
Yes, ahem, that one.
